The season came to a bittersweet end for three of our divers on Sunday at the All-Star meet. Where our divers competed against the best divers from across the entire league. We are so proud of our three All-Stars and what they accomplished this year.
Logan DiBenigno finished 14th in Freshman Boys. Very good for an 8 year old making his first All-Star appearance against some that are already 10 years old.
Gavin Simpson finished 9th in Junior Boys in his second trip to All-Stars.
Luke DiBenigno also finished 9th in his 5th consecutive year at the event.
Congratulations to all our All-Stars!

It was a beautiful day at Falls Church for the Division 4 Championship Meet. Dominion Hills sent their full allotment of 16 divers and ended up with 3 All-Star qualifiers and 2 alternates.
Logan DiBenigno (2nd), Gavin Simpson (3rd) and Luke DiBenigno (4th) all punched their ticket to the All Star Meet. This will be Logan's first trip to All Stars...as a diver, anyway. Gavin is making his second appearance, and Luke, his fifth.
Our alternates were Lulu Ax, Luke Jolley and Joseph Nixon.
Also picking up medals for top 6 finishes were Jeb Bachrack, Johanna Eyl, Riley Shelton and Austin Bannach.

Week 5 - Camelot
This team is on a roll as our season comes to an end, as we end in a good place with a tie to the Knights from Camelot Community Club 36-36 . This was another team effort when those willing to dive up helped us pickup critical points that made it all possible. We end our season with a 1-3-1 record, but that only tells part of the story, our losses were very close, only losing to our division's winner by just 6.
Ellie Joyce, Gavin Simpson, Luke DiBenigno and Grace Dennis each got our team 5 points with their 1st place finishes. Logan DiBenigno, Joseph Nixon, Max Jolley and Luke Dangel finished 2nd and each got us 3 points. Lulu Ax, Luke Jolly, Paige Shelton, and Riley Shelton hauled in 1 point each by finishing third.
Of critical importance to the team were the efforts of Grace (5) and Riley (1) who earned their points diving up in the Senior Girls group, where we would have otherwise had no representation.
Setting personal bests in this meet were Molly Cooper, Gavin Simpson, Ellie Potts, Riley Shelton and Max Jolley.
Dominion Hills had 6 divers participate in the 30th annual Crackerjack meet. The weather held up just fine to get all our divers in and DH had a really great day!
Molly Cooper got 4th in 8yo girls. Levi Fullen also got 4th in 8yo boys.
Sandis Walker got 9th in 10yo boys.
Greta Kirchoff-Johnson got 9th in 11yo girls, and Payton Cooper got 6th in 11yo boys.
Finally, Tyler Wells got 8th in 12yo boys.
Congratulations to all of them on a great meet!

Week 4 - Highlands Swim
While diving is often considered an individual sport, each week these individual performances contribute to the effort of our team. Last night was a perfect example of our team coming together and putting forth their best effort to help the team as we notched our first win of the season by the score of 37-32.
I write these recaps each week to give us all more insight into how our kids are developing week to week, but this week, I want to take the time to draw attention to some of the efforts our divers undertook to help the team.
"Diving Up" is a term we use when a diver competes in the age group above his or her own age group. This week, teammates Luke Jolley, Joseph Nixon and Ellie Potts took on that challenge and competed at the next level. Their efforts alone earned our team 7 of our combined 32 points! Simply put, we do not win this meet if not for them. Every point counts, every finish is important.
But, there's more. Highlands Swim is a really good team. We knew we needed to bring our A game among those competing in their own age groups. Gavin Simpson, Dakota Bannach and Austin Bannach all performed very difficult dives for the first time in an effort to push us over the top!
Such a great team effort! Now, onto the individuals...
Logan DiBenigno, Ellie Joyce, Riley Shelton and Luke DiBenigno each earned 5 team points with their 1st place finishes. Molly Cooper, Gavin Simpson, Joseph Nixon, Ellie Potts and Austin Bannach each got 3 points or our team by finishing in 2nd place. Finally, Sandis Walker and Luke Jolley got us one point eat with their 3rd place finishes.
Congratulate the following divers for setting personal bests! Molly Cooper, Bella DiFilippi, Charlie Morrison, Hayden Shelton and Ellie Potts
I can't wait to see what this team has in store next week in our final home meet against Camelot.

Wally Martin Meet
Dominion Hills had an impressive turnout at this year's Wally Martin Meet.
Seven divers braved the Three Meter board, most of which had never been on a three meter board until our one our practice two days prior.
We also were represented in three different Synchronized Diving teams. All told, nine DH divers took part and I hope we can continue this for years to come.
The competition was extremely tough, about what you see at the All Star meet, so our divers did very well!
In Freshmen Boys, Sandis Walker finished 11th
In Junior Girls, Ellie Joyce finished 2nd and Dakota Bannach finished 14th
In Junior Boys, Joseph Nixon finished 13th
In Intermediate Girls, Riley Shelton finished 8th
In Intermediate Boys, Luke DeBenigno finished 8th
In Senior Boys, Austin Bannach finished 13th
1 Meter Synchro Results:
In the 12 and Under Girls group, Paige Shelton and Morgan Shelton finished in 14th place, and for the third year in a row, Ellie Joyce and her friend Jocelyn from Kent Gardens won the event.
In the 13 and over girls group, Riley Shelton and Dakota Bannach finished in 15th place.
B Meet - Arlington Forest
What a beautiful night for diving with our closest neighbors at Arlington Forest Club. We sent 13 divers and every single one of them set a new personal best! All but three were making their very first meet appearance!
Congratulate James Gallagher, Bella DeFilippi, Morgan Leathwood and Tarikua Lunger for earning first place ribbons. Finishing in second place was Hannah Ax and Amelia Rizzo. Third place finishers were Georgia DeFilippi, David Mooshian, Elena Rizzo, William Leathwood and Sarah Low.
Check out all the results here.
Because Arlington Forest has two board, we also got a sneak peek into some future synchro competitors!
Week Three Recap - Great Falls
It was a very close finish, but the Warriors lost to the Rapids of Great Falls by a score of 37-35. Great Falls has a number of fantastic divers, and we did very well to stay that close with them. But, on an individual basis, 13 of our 22 divers established new personal bests, so we certainly brought our A game to this meet!
Earning first place finishes were Logan DiBenigno, Ellie Joyce and Gavin Simpson. Second place finishers were Lulu Ax, Joseph Nixon, Riley Shelton, Luke DiBenigno, Grace Dennis and Luke Dangel. Finishing in third place this week were Dakota Bannach and Austin Bannach.
This week we welcome Charlie Morrison to the team who competed in his very first A Meet. Congratulations Charlie!
This was an outstanding week for setting personal bests, which is the mark of personal growth and development week to week. What's remarkable this week is we saw several divers establish new marks that were 10-20 points above their previous bests.
Congratulate all these divers on setting new personal records this week: Lulu Ax, Morgan Shelton, Logan DiBenigno, Levi Fullen, Charlie Morrison, Sandis Walker, Ellie Joyce, Paige Shelton, Gavin Simpson, Grace Dennis, Ellie Potts, Max Jolley, Luke Dangel.
Full results can be found here.
Our next A meet is next week at home against Highlands Swim.
Week Two Recap - Lakeview
The evening started off stormy and we weren't sure we would get it in, but we did. It was another close one, but the Warriors fell to Lakeview Tuesday night by a score of 40-32.
Congratulate Jeb Bachrack and Luke DiBenigno for earning first place ribbons. Lulu Ax, Logan DiBenigno, Paige Shelton, Joseph Nixon and Grace Dennis all picked up second place awards. Molly Cooper, Sandis Walker, Dakota Bannach, Luke Jolley, Ellie Potts, Riley Shelton and Luke Dangel all finished third.
A special congratulations goes out to Hayden Shelton, who competed in her very first A Meet!!
Setting personal bests this wee were Molly Cooper, Hayden Shelton, Logan DiBenigno, Luke Jolley, Sandis Walker, Paige Shelton, Riley Shelton, Luke DiBenigno and Max Jolley. Keep up the hard work!
Next week we head back on the road to face Great Falls...see you then!

Week One Recap - Kent Gardens
You could not have asked for a better night for a dive meet. The weather was beautiful, and the nice folks at Kent Gardens make it a pleasure.
By the way, Kent Gardens is also in the our swim division...we should have come up with some kind of Westmoreland street trophy. As it turns out, it's a good thing we didn't because the Dolphins from Kent Gardens took this one in a squeaker 39-33. It was close all night and came down to the wire.
Still, there was good news to report.. Jeb Bachrack, Ellie Joyce, Gavin Simpson and Grace Dennis all got first place awards. Luke Jolley, Luke DiBenigno and Luke Dangel all earned second place finshes. Molly Cooper, Johanna Eyl, Joseph Nixon and Max Jolley all earned third place ribbons.
Additionally, we had many personal bests set tonight, including a new pool record: Molly Cooper, Jeb Bachrack, Logan DiBenigno, Johanna Eyl, Ellie Joyce (who broke the DH Junior Girls record), Lilly Pilch, Gavin Simpson, Luke DiBenigno, and Luke Dangel.
And, give a special congratulations to Levi Fullen and Logan DiBenigno, who competed in their very first A meet!
Next week we are at home to take on Lakeview, where we hope to turn our fortunes around.
